The 2011 SEMA Show has come and gone, and with it go some of the most creative Scion models that Toyota of New Orleans has ever seen. The vehicles were featured as a part of the 2011 Scion Tuner Challenge, which is held at the show. Each year, a different model becomes the focus of the contest, and this year that vehicle was the upcoming 2012 Scion iQ minicar.
A wide range of souped-up and tricked-out variants were entered into the contest, and their upgrades ranged from performance-driven to aesthetically-designed. Regardless, each entry carried the distinct styling of the iQ under its aftermarket weight, and the winner took custom tuning to a whole new level.
So which iQ was victorious? Jon Sibal took home the trophy, but it was his Scion iQ-RX that actually won the competition. Sibal's entry featured a plethora of high-tech gadgets mounted inside, proving that small cabins can pack big entertainment. More specifically, the Scion iQ-RX boasts an iPad mounted in its dash, an Xbox 360 and flat-screen TV in the trunk, and an envious speaker system that rounds out the whole experience.
For his efforts, Sibal took home a custom-made Scion trophy, $10,000, and a custom-tuning dream prize pack, with gear from Snap-on, Alpinestars, and Meguiar's for use in his next creation. What will come next for Jon Sibal? Toyota of New Orleans can only guess another Scion Tuner Challenge, but only time will tell.
