Toyota's production facility in West Virgina, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia, Inc. (TMMWV) now employs over 1,000 people, quadruple their size when they started 1996. With this feat accomplished Toyota is celebrating 15 years of solid production at TMMWV.
To celebrate, employees at the 8.6 million-transmission-producing-manufacturing plant are giving back. After collecting donations for an unknown cause at the time, employees at the facility reached more than $100,000 in contributions. The money is to be divied up amongst several deserving non-profits, with $22,000 going towards the Multifest Cultural Festival; $32,000 to Marshall University; $8,000 to the City of Buffalo; $15,000 to the Buffalo Fire department, $15,000 to the Eleanor Fire Department; and $10,000 going towards the Putnam County Career & Technical Center.
The thriving charitable drive proves that "Toyota supports the communities where it does business, not only monetarily, but, also, through volunteer efforts?" says Mike Lutz, the General Manager at TMMWV. With each year Mike's team gives over 10,000 hours of their time towards worthy causes like the local Non-profits in the area. 1
