What’s New for the 2027 Toyota Highlander?

The Toyota Highlander continues to be a force in the Toyota lineup. This three-row SUV is ideal as a family vehicle while offering efficiency and advanced technology. If you think you like the Highlander, wait until you see the 2027 model. You’re about to get reintroduced to this model in a big way.
Highlander Reimagined
Toyota has reimagined the Highlander for the 2027 model year. This SUV comes to the public with new style and increased comfort along with an all-electric powertrain. You still have seating for seven while providing up to 45 cubic feet of storage when you fold the third row. The Highlander is being assembled at the Toyota plant in Kentucky and now includes Vehicle-to-Load technology, which enables it to act as a backup power source. The Toyota Highlander is now the fourth BEV model in the lineup and the first three-row SUV here in the US.
Power for the 2027 Highlander
The 2027 Toyota Highlander will offer two trims: Limited an XLE. Both models have the option of either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. AWD models feature a 95.8-kWh battery. You also get a range of 320 miles and a NACS port, which allows you to access DC fast charging stations all over the country. The result is 338 combined horsepower with 198 lb.-feet of torque in the front and 125 lb.-feet in the rear. Instant acceleration and a quiet ride are two features sure to appeal to buyers.
Technology for the Highlander
The 2027 Highlander includes a 14-inch touchscreen with Toyota Audio Multimedia. The 12.3-inch driver’s display provides vehicle statistics in a clear, easy-to-read format. Ambient lighting can be customized while charging ports are located in every row for convenience.
Comfort and Convenience
As you slide inside the 2027 Toyota Highlander, the first thing you might notice is the fixed glass panoramic roof that is the largest in any Toyota model. SoxTex is standard for the seats with soft-touch materials throughout the cabin. Heated front seats are also standard with optional ventilated front seats and heated seats in the second row.
A Leader in the Toyota Lineup
The Highlander has always been innovative, often leading the way for other models in the Toyota lineup. First introduced in 2001, the Highlander was built with a unibody platform unlike other models of the day, which relied on body-on-frame designs. What this transition did was improve handling on the road and create a spacious interior. The Highlander also became the first hybrid SUV for Toyota, which launched in 2005. Each model continued to be refined with new features added.
Toyota wants the new Highlander to stand out from the crowd, coining the phrase, “Best Experience Vehicle,” to showcase the new look and attitude. Families will appreciate the attention to detail that this model brings to the Toyota lineup, especially for BEVs.
