New from the ground up is Toyota’s big three-row Sequoia, which includes a new hybrid powertrain, sliding third row, top trim level, and more for 2023. The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is modern and stands out from the competition with its full-size look and horizontal theme. With seating for up to eight, this large SUV has enough room for the whole family and then some. Take the 2023 Sequoia for a test drive around Harvey right here at Toyota of New Orleans.
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia kicks the old 5.7-liter naturally aspired V-8 and six-speed automatic transmission to the curb and adapts the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 and 10-speed automatic. Also new to the Sequoia is a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain that combines output from the V-6 with the electric motor output between the flywheel and torque converter. The Sequoia is also outfitted to tow up to 9,000 pounds when properly equipped with its available rear load-leveling airbag suspension. An available Tow Tech package can make towing even easier as it comes with a trailer backup guide and steering assist. This feature helps keep the trailer straight while the SUV is in reverse. The 2023 Toyota Sequoia will also be offered in rear-wheel drive and part-time four-wheel drive.
Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5 suite of active safety features comes equipped with the 2023 Sequoia. This system has features like Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System With Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beams, Road Sign Assist, and Lane Tracing Assist. Not part of Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5 but standard on the new Sequoia is Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, and parking sensors when parking in a city like New Orleans.
For the first time ever, the Sequoia receives an available TRD Off-Road package, which shouldn’t be confused with the maximum off-road spec TRD Pro trim. The TRD Off-Road package offers a selectable locking rear differential, Downhill Assist for carefully descending steep hills, terrain mode selector, and Crawl Control. This last feature manages the vehicle acceleration over low-speed rugged terrain so you can focus your attention on steering. Get more capability with the package’s TRD-tunes Bilstein shock absorbers, springs, and Multi-Terrain Monitor camera system. The TRD Off-Road package also includes aluminum gas and brake pedals, a red front axle, 18-inch wheels, as well as a red TRD push-to-start button.
Standard across all 2023 Toyota Sequoia models is an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen display that can be upgraded to an available 14.0-inch display. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability are also standard. On the available digital display rearview mirror or bigger screen, drivers can look at views from the Sequoia’s plethora of cameras that include a rear split view, top-down view, and trailer hitch view. For the first time ever, Toyota offers the Sequoia with available extending, power folding, and retracting tow mirrors. Other features of the Sequoia include a sunroof and heated front seats.
